Postpartum and perinatal mental health care

The months around a new baby can bring more than tiredness. Low mood, constant worry, or not feeling like yourself are real, common, and treatable.

What postpartum care covers

Mindful Psychiatry treats depression and anxiety during pregnancy and after birth, including persistent sadness, intrusive worry, irritability, trouble bonding, and sleep that stays broken even when the baby sleeps. This is common and it is not a failing. Care meets you where you are.

Who it helps

Care is available for adults located in Missouri who are pregnant or in the months and first years after having a baby. Partners and family often notice the changes first, and it is always okay to reach out on someone's behalf to ask how to help.

What the first visit looks like by video

Not having to pack up a newborn and sit in a waiting room makes the first step easier. Visits happen by secure video from home. After a free 15-minute consultation, the 60-minute comprehensive evaluation covers your history and what you want to be different. You leave with options explained in plain language and a written plan you agreed to.

Treatment options

Plans are individualized. Depending on your goals, care may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy using talk-based CBT and mindfulness, or both. Medication choices are discussed openly, including considerations for pregnancy and breastfeeding, so you can make an informed decision.

Insurance and booking

Check the plans accepted and self-pay rates. Weekday and weekend appointments are available, with exact times shown when you book.

Common questions

Before you book.

If your question is not here, book the free consultation and ask. No commitment either way.

Is it safe to take medication while breastfeeding?
Many options are compatible with breastfeeding. Choices are discussed openly with the risks and benefits for you and your baby, so you can decide together.
How is this different from the baby blues?
Short-lived mood swings in the first couple of weeks are common. When low mood, anxiety, or trouble functioning last longer or feel heavier, an evaluation can help clarify what is going on and what would help.
