PTSD and trauma care by telehealth

Trauma can keep the body on alert long after the event is over. Sleep, focus, mood, and a sense of safety are all fair to want back.

What trauma care covers

Mindful Psychiatry treats the symptoms that trauma leaves behind, including flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, being easily startled, trouble sleeping, and avoiding reminders. Trauma rarely stands alone, so anxiety, depression, and how you have been coping day to day are all part of the conversation.

Who it helps

Care is available for children age six and up, teens, adults, and older adults located in Missouri. Some people are carrying something recent. Others have lived with it for years and are only now naming it. You will not be rushed and you will not be judged.

What the first visit looks like by video

Visits happen by secure video from wherever you feel safest in the state, which for many people makes the first step easier. After a free 15-minute consultation, the 60-minute comprehensive evaluation covers your history and what you want to be different, at a pace you set. You leave with options explained in plain language and a written plan you agreed to.

Treatment options

Plans are individualized. Depending on your goals, care may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy using talk-based CBT and mindfulness, or both. When more specialized trauma-focused therapy is the right fit, that is discussed openly and coordinated with the right provider. Nothing gets decided for you.

Insurance and booking

Check the plans accepted and self-pay rates. Weekday and weekend appointments are available, with exact times shown when you book.

Common questions

Before you book.

If your question is not here, book the free consultation and ask. No commitment either way.

Do I have to talk about the trauma in detail to get help?
No. You set the pace. The first visit is about understanding your symptoms and goals, not reliving anything you are not ready to.
Is medication the only option?
No. Care can include supportive psychotherapy using talk-based CBT and mindfulness, medication management, or both, and specialized trauma therapy is coordinated when it is the right fit.
